Here are some steps you can take to resolve Windows installation issues related to network drivers:

Check for updates and conflicts

  • Ensure that your network drivers (e.g., Ethernet, Wi-Fi, etc.) are up-to-date.

  • Check the Microsoft Update Catalog website or run a manual update on your system.

Disable and re-enable network adapters

  • Open Device Manager by pressing the Windows key + X and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the network adapter you want to disable (e.g., Ethernet) and right-click on it.

  • Select Disable device.

  • Wait for 10 seconds, then click Restart to enable the adapter.

Remove temporary or corrupted drivers

  • Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.

  • Type “mcacls” and press Enter to access Command Prompt with elevated privileges.

  • Navigate to the directory containing your network driver (e.g., C:\Windows\System32\DriverFiles).

  • Remove any temporary or corrupted drivers by running the following command: rundll32 maccalcus.dll,RemoveTemporary

  • Restart your computer.

Reinstall drivers

  • Open Device Manager again.

  • Find the network adapter you want to reinstall and right-click on it.

  • Select Uninstall device.

  • Follow the uninstaller wizard to remove the driver.

  • Reinstall the driver by following the installation wizard for the new version.

Check for Windows Firewall issues

  • Ensure that your Windows Firewall is enabled (you can check this in the Control Panel).

  • If you’re using a firewall, disable it temporarily while installing drivers to avoid conflicts.

Run a network troubleshooter

  • Open the Command Prompt as an administrator.

  • Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter to reset your network connections.

  • Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter to reset your Windows Socket settings.

Contact Microsoft Support or a professional

If none of these steps resolve your issues, you may want to:

  • Contact Microsoft Support for further assistance.

  • Visit the Microsoft website or visit an authorized service provider for professional help.

Remember to always follow proper safety procedures when working with hardware and software.
